It’s gets to us eventually. It’s that “time to make the donuts” feeling you have in your life. However, we rarely take the time out to notice the rich beauty that’s in what we have labeled the mundane. Most of the time it’s because we don’t think it exist because we’ve looked at the same thing, the same way for to long. Let’s change that, because it doesn’t have to be the same “donuts” everyday for us.
The most beautiful order is a heap of sweepings piled up at random. – Heraclitus
It’s not difficult to find beauty in the sublime or the artfully crafted. It took a photo walk to remind me that there is beauty in everything around me. Check it out below.

I just have to pause, look up, and take a deeper dive into the inconspicuous details of everyday life.
Focusing on the here and now a little deeper and with better purpose than just going through the motions can cause us to reassess the criteria for which we label beauty, beauty. All it requires is for us to slow down and shift our attention ever so slightly. When you do notice as I have found, it will give you a great pleasant feeling of surprise. It may even bring a smile to your face where nothing existed previously.
Here’s are some things you can do for reflection to get into the slight shift:
- What details are humbly beautiful in your current situation?
- What is surprising about them?
- What other small details do you notice?
I hope you can find some beauty in your “pile of sweepings” as you go into the weekend. Thanks for reading.
