The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts. – Marcus Aurelius
Write things down. To often we day dream or we get this ray of light that just hits us and we fail to capture it down on paper (e-paper or otherwise). These are our best thoughts. Use a notes apps in your smartphones or bring a pocket pen/pad of paper with you at all times. Genius strikes when it wants to, don’t miss out.
History shouldn’t repeat itself, but it can rhyme. Find the rhythm from your past, remember it. You’ll thank yourself later for it when you start to feel that rhythm return later on in your journeys. It’s a great thing when you can remember when the rhythm of something that really hurt you can be identified. It allows you to recognize it so you’re not doomed to repeat it. When it’s an incredible feeling or win it can turn a blaze into a raging fire. Nothing like that home stretch feeling you get when you know you going to land the goal in front of you or blow it away. Remember that feeling, use it to accelerate yourself and others around you.
I’ve been working on becoming maximalist in particular areas of my work and life. To do this I’ve also realized I’ve had to become a minimalist in others. I cannot do it all, nor can you. You can try. When I try, I burn out, fast. I pick my lane and minimize everything else. I find I am super intentional and my most optimal self when I sharpen my focus. That only can happen when you bring it into the few things that matter and let everything else fall to the sides.
Give me a stock clerk with a goal and I will give you a man/woman who will change the world. Give me a man/woman with out a goal and I will give you a stock clerk. – J. C. Penny
You’re just past the mid-way point of your first 30 days into 2018. How’s it going? Where are you at? What have you learned? It’s always a great thing to pause, ponder, and reflect. Then recalibrate as you move on. Hope it’s going well for you.
