“The goal is not to read a book, the goals it to become a reader. The goal is not to run a marathon, the goal is to become a runner. The goal is not to learn an instrument, the goal is to become a musician.”
What is your goal? Most of the time, we don’t think of the impact or go deep enough in regards to the goal we want to achieve. Is it just one thing you want to achieve or are we trying to achieve a complete habit that will sustain us far beyond just one goal?
When you look at goals deeper than surface level and see them differently. They take on a meaning on their own. A deeper desire or want comes to the surface. They can become a habit that sticks with us far beyond just that one achievement.
We can also look at it from another angle. Is this really what you signed up for? Is there a deep seated reason why your putting in the work or focus? If there is not, then why do it? This type of look in helps you reset or re-examine your why. Maybe it was an idea that has a deeper purpose. This goal could be the wrong goal just like the picture represents of the darts on the left or right missing the bullseye.
Understanding the what and why about our goals is worth a deeper dive then we initially take before we get moving towards trying to make them. It can save focus energy for the right target. It can help us understand whether this goal was just a thing or has a bigger purpose. Either way, make sure the aim is true and the energy behind it brings something more than just a one hit wonder.
Hope you have an amazing Wednesday! Thanks for reading. Hope you get that bullseye you been aiming for and a win this week that feels great!
