I wanted to compare my second month with that of the first month of this year. I have some things I am proud of and some revelations about the work put in.
Dec. – Jan. I had:
- 1,200 views between the two months
- Just over 700+ views
- Landed in 13 unique countries with my reach (shout outs to India, Germany, UK, and South America all double digit viewers
- Completed 2 Podcasts
Then I get into Feb. where I had:
- 307 visitors
- 4 Podcasts posted
There are times that I like to pause and learn from month to month how I am doing. To think out loud right here. This has been a labor of both love and a hobby I’ve come to really enjoy the past three years. I’ve seen a huge uptick in my work and the numbers my viewership has reached.
My learns from month to month were simpler compared to other months. I put in more work into Dec. and Jan. than I did into Feb. Thus, less views and reach for Feb. 2019. Gives me a lot of respect for others that do this for a living and post just about daily. It is not that I don’t want to post daily. There are days I just don’t have it in me and that’s okay too.
I also learned reading back through my titles and content as well as listening to the podcasts, I usually follow themes for the month. My learning and studies for the content I put out follows this pattern as well, so this makes sense. Feb. was a lot about finding space for yourself and getting time to pause, reflect, and do some internal deep dives with yourself. Finding your truth and then applying it to your advantage.
I put up twice as many podcasts as I did the previous month. I’m really proud of myself there because it’s a new space I’ve not played in. I’m learning a lot from being uncomfortable speaking instead of typing what’s on my mind. I was equally surprised how much feedback I got about them from friends and colleagues that was positive. This is something that I will continue to do at least once a week, keeping it less than 15 minutes at a clip, and making sure it is an appendix of sorts that lives off the written content. I hope to build it into vlogging by the end of this first year. We’ll see how it goes.
March I’m going to return to putting in the work and my commitment to learning. Feb. I had a lot on my plate with the regular job I have and I had a lot of my time as well as focus that needed to be put into that. Now that I am about 30 days into that work, I feel like I can start to give myself and this craft more time.
Lastly, I want to thank you for the incredible attention you’ve given the site over the last three months. It’s been incredible to see the growth and the reach. I hope I can continue to keep you interested, knock you off center to think differently, and apply some new learning to your days/weeks. Love any and all feedback in either the comments or through email you might have on what you’d like to see in the future for IBTP for 2019.
✌ Shawn
