I’ve been really wrapped up in some toxic thoughts. When I get that way a lot of people notice I am not myself. I get a lot of feedback. These negative emotions I’m wrapped up in keep me from reaching my potential. I really am not the person I want to be during those times. Our minds can take us low as easily as they can take us high. Understanding how our minds work will help us overcome these negative thoughts. You can start living better. You can participate.
First thing I want to make clear, I am not telling you to not listen to your thoughts when they are negative. There is a lot to learn from them. Just squashing them won’t help, it makes it worse. Inner trains of thought can be very helpful if we just take a moment to listen to it before moving on. You pick up some really interesting patterns when you do this. Recognizing patterns in the future moves you through them faster. Your thoughts and feelings don’t define you. Your actions on those thoughts and feelings do.
“Come to know who watches the voice, and you will come to know one of the great mysteries of creation.”
– Michael A Singer
Our first instinct with our inner voice when we find it negative is to put it in steel box, throw some chains around it, put it in a cement coffin, and toss it into the deepest ocean we can. Don’t block them. There is internal energy you can tap into that you are losing out on by burying it. Bottling it up only makes it come out later in a very uncontrolled way. You could do more damage to yourself as well as those around you. Call it chi, call it flow, call it shakti, call it whatever you want. It’s inner energy, even though it’s negative. You’d can harness it as it passes through you.
You think you can live fear free? You can’t. Stop working so dang hard to eradicate it. Your consciousness is made to throw up fear signals. Flight or fight. It’s part of our evolution that goes back to the dawn of humanity. You can recognize it so it can be harnessed or you can try to run away from it. Don’t work so hard to protect yourself from it. Modify your behavior around it by harnessing the energy it has to push you through a challenge versus avoiding it.
My best moments in my career or in my personal life I accomplished were when I discovered from times I addressed my fear, moved through it, then redefined my potential when I made it to the other side. Fear is a construct of your mind. A made up story you create the narrative around. There is no such thing as a fear free life, so don’t live trying to create one. Your goal is to become aware of fear when it is there, but in no way let it take over your life. Learn from it.
We are not our thoughts. Simply just be aware of them. Recognize them in yourself so you can let them go. Don’t get hung up on any one thought like fear or negative thoughts. Stop thinking you can not make an impact. Just try. Stop putting your talents in a cage. Listen to yourself. If it wasn’t possible, would your mind even conjure it up? It must be possible if you can think it up.
I hope you’re well, activated, and finding your moment to help someone. We need you in the game. See you out there.
