Where are you in this moment? Deep in work? I picked up my phone no less than 181 times today! That’s a lot. But, that’s a picture of how connected we are. We are terrible at doing nothing. But, it is one of the healthiest things we can do. Put the phone on silent. Turn it OFF. Have a favorite drink outside. Take a book, a real book, not an ebook with you. An ebook is just asking for you to return to picking up that tech.
Doing absolutely nothing is my challenge to you this week. Take a moment on your calendar, block it out for yourself, do nothing. Cultivate boredom. This article I picked up does a great deal to explain the benefits. Find yourself again. Reflect. You’re allowed a journal you can hand write in, a drink, that’s it. No phones, no tech. Just sit, be bored for 30-60 minutes.
First, get yourself ready by checking this article out by Kinga Lewandowska. Should take you about 6 minutes to slowly read and digest. Bring that to your first session. Then practice it for a week everyday at the same time, in the same place without TECH. You’ll be refreshed. Promise. The world won’t burn in 30 minutes. Your job, your people (friends/family) that depend on you, will thank you for taking time out for yourselves. Because you’ll be a better human for it, a better leader will follow.

Drop into the comments below to let me know what your thoughts were. I’d love for you come back in a week, to let me know what it did for you. Good luck, stay vigilant.
