Happiness Series | Shorts

Every minute you are angry you loose sixty seconds of happiness.

We can move through this world thinking happiness is owed to us. A sense of entitlement with happiness. To the point that we allow others or things to hijack whether we are happy at any given time. We allow those constructs of our own making be the fuel. I want to move past that with this series. I want to get happiness back in our control. It’s incredibly hard work.

That said, happiness is yours and no one else or one thing should be allowed to control it. Through the series we will look at a few things that can give us that power of being in control again. Being in control of what really makes us happy or unhappy.

Some of the things that we will look into:

  • Self-knowledge: We have to understand ourselves to understand where our happiness can spring from. Do this on our own power versus. Gandhi said this:

Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.

  • The power of practicing gratitude. Do we start with gratitude and end with it daily? What are you thankful for?
  • Your Passion: Where is your passion today. In previous journeys together we explored passions and how they can change. We’ll review this again in the series. There may have been a point where you shifted to something different as a passion and nor realized it. Continuing to work on something your not passionate about is a drain and a hassle. You just need to learn how to shift.
  • Happiness is Work: The art of happiness is putting in the work to get there instead of waiting for it to be delivered to you. When we are spending our time to our pursuit of happiness what does it do to our health? We’ll explore the telomere effect and why people who have less stress in their life live longer, happier lives.

I’m pretty excited in this work we will do together as a series for the rest of September. I need to realign myself too. It’s one I am constantly working on and helping others find their own empowerment to happiness, gives me happiness.

I’ll wrap this commitment in happiness to you with this from the Lama himself:

Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions.

Thanks for holding me accountable with the many views and comments. Appreciate it all.

Shawn
